U18A Brings Home GOLD from Wasaga Beach!
Submitted By Barbara Roberts on Tue 03 29, 22
The Thornton Tigers U18A team competed in the Wasaga Beach tournament this weekend and won the Championship with a convincing 8-3 victory over the Midland Centennials in the Finals.

The Tigers rolled through the tournament going undefeated in four games. They finished first in their division after defeating Wasaga Beach 2 and Lambton. In the semi-finals, Thornton advanced with a convincing 6-0 shut out of Wasaga Beach 2. In the Finals, after a tightly contested first period, the Tigers pulled away with two short handed goals less than one minute apart in the second period enroute the tournament Championship. Throughout the tournament, the Tigers relied on strong goaltending and aggressive defensive play along with waves of timely scoring which included several shorthanded goals. This hard working group of players have been to the Finals of both tournaments they played in this season only to lose in heartbreaking fashion both times. This third tournament was a charm, their perseverance, work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes finally paid off.  Congratulations boys, “Always Earned, Never Given”.
